Selecting the right dental care for your teenager can be a challenging decision. Orthodontics is a lengthy process that requires months of consistent care and attention.
That's why we want to take a moment to explain the importance of respecting the chronology of dental procedures and the benefits of having a dentist and orthodontist working closely together under one roof.
When it comes to braces, it's essential to divide the treatment process into three stages. Stage 1 is all about preparing for the treatment. This includes any necessary dental procedures that should be done before the braces are applied. As a team, we will decide which procedures are most important to start with, for example, if your teenager has teeth cavities, it's important to treat them before the braces are applied.
During Stage 2, we will perform any necessary procedures while the braces are on. This includes both planned procedures, as well as addressing any unexpected issues that may arise during the treatment, such as new cavities or inflammation of the gums that may have resulted from inadequate oral hygiene. This is another important aspect of orthodontic treatment which requires close monitoring and follow-up from both the dentist and orthodontist.
Finally, in Stage 3, when teeth are aligned and the braces are removed, we will finish up any remaining dental procedures and reevaluate your teenager's teeth and gums, to make sure everything is in a perfect condition.
That's why we are always working closely together. Our combined expertise ensures that your teenager's treatment is as seamless and effective as possible.
